AdvancedCath has acquired LSA Laser of Plymouth, Minn., which adds laser welding and micro-machining capabilities to AdvancedCath’s existing catheter and guidewire manufacturing business.
“LSA Laser is a recognized leader in producing laser machined components and assemblies that no other supplier can deliver. They have a long history as a trusted partner to medical device OEMs which they’ve built through engineering expertise and excellent customer service,” said Randall Sword, CEO of AdvancedCath. “I am excited to join forces with LSA as we share the same values of speed, flexibility and engineering expertise. I am confident our customers will benefit from our expanded technical capacities.”
LSA Laser specializes in laser cutting, laser welding, laser ablation and laser marking, and provides precision medical device manufacturing and assembly services to medical device OEMs. The company’s components and assemblies are used in a variety of medical devices including coronary, peripheral and neuro vascular devices, stimulation leads, surgical instruments, dental and orthopedic devices.
Tom Noll, CEO of LSA, says the companies “share a commitment to focus on the customer by providing superior technical solutions and excellent customer service,” according to a statement released by Watertown, Mass.-based AdvancedCath.
“Being part of the AdvancedCath platform provides us with complementary technologies and scale so that we can provide even greater value and a more complete set of manufacturing services to our valued customers,” said Noll.
AdvancedCath was formed via the merger of AdvancedCath Technologies, MP&E and TechDevice—and now LSA. The company works with medical device OEMs to design and manufacture catheter and guidewire systems used in complex interventional and endosurgical procedures. The firm is owned by Philadelphia, Pa.-based private-equity firm Inverness Graham.
