Minneapolis, Minn.-based Zimmer Spine Inc. has launched two products from its new Viewline brand: a new tube retraction system and a new posterior minimally invasive surgical (MIS) instrument set to facilitate exposure, retraction, decompression and disc preparation for MIS TLIF/PLIF/PLF (transforaminal and posterior lumbar interbody fusion and posterolateral fusion) and microdiscectomy procedures.
The Viewline tube retraction system features 40 mm through 120 mm tube length options, as well as three tube diameters to accommodate a range of spinal anatomy. The Viewline retractor system offers 50 mm through 120mm blade options with 30 degrees of blade pivoting for maximum access through a smaller incision, as well as two, three or four blades designed to move independently for maximum customization. Both Viewline systems feature an angled attachment arm to minimize tube profile, a rotating table clamp providing rigid stabilization and a cool LED (light emitting diode) light source to improve visualization while reducing heat exposure during surgery.
“For the spine surgeon who performs minimally invasive TLIF and PLIF procedures, the Viewline systems provide comprehensive versatility for MIS posterior access,” said Steve Healy, president of Zimmer Spine. “Combined with the PathFinder NXT minimally invasive pedicle screw system and the TM Ardis interbody system, these state-of-the-art retractor systems enhance Zimmer Spine’s complete, minimally invasive TLIF and PLIF procedural solution.”
Zimmer Spine is a division of Zimmer Holdings Inc., which makes orthopedic reconstructive, spinal and trauma devices, dental implants and related surgical products.
