Medical device packaging and testing company DDL has hired Patrick Waddick, who joins the team as the new quality assurance manager at the firm’s headquarters in Eden Prairie, Minn. Waddick will ensure that DDL’s quality standards are adhered to in anticipation of increased growth.
Waddick has 19 years of experience, 17 of which are in quality assurance. In his new role, he will assess DDL operations to better determine which steps need to be taken, or modified, to enable the company to operate under a superior quality management system and better serve clients.
“A major part of Waddick’s goals will be to identify improvement areas and techniques that will enable DDL to retain its customers and capture new business as it continues to grow,” said Patrick Nolan, president of DDL.
Waddick’s prior experience includes almost eight years as a business process manager at defense contractor BAE Systems, two years as a Six Sigma Black Belt (an expert in the company’s specific quality control processes) at GE Capital and United Health, and three years as the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) management representative at various companies.
“We were impressed with Patrick’s experience, particularly in quality assurance,” Corey Hensel, DDL’s general manager said. “He is passionate about improving processes, benchmarking them, and acquiring best practices that are second to none.”
DDL has been in the package and product testing industry for more than 20 years, and has seen an increase in the level of quality that customers and the industry are expecting from third party laboratories. Company representatives said they want to be “ahead of the curve in terms of quality assurance.”
“I chose DDL because I wanted to be with the very best,” said Waddick. “When I began researching packaging expertise I came across DDL and marveled at its capability, considering the full suite of services it provides.”
“We are confident that [Waddick] will help DDL to raise the bar for our quality management system so that our clients continue to get the best testing services possible,” Nolan added.
