PBS Biotech Inc. has acquired Integrity CMI, a Camarillo, Calif.-based medical device design and manufacturing company. The agreement states that PBS Biotech will integrate Integrity CMI into ongoing operations.
Integrity CMI designs, assembles, tests, packages and sterilizes medical devices and biotech products. The company has certified Class 7 (10,000) clean room operations as well as non-clean room assembly and testing facilities. The added technical capabilities and factory space will bolster the company’s manufacturing capability for disposable vessels, bags and related plastic parts of single-use bioreactors under stringent clean room environmental controls, according to PBS Biotech.
“Integrity CMI is a powerful addition to the company adding substantial ISO and FDA certified design, manufacturing and test capabilities,” said Brian Lee, M.D., co-founder and CEO of PBS Biotech. “Oscar Garza and his team are experts at medical and biotech equipment production and have extensive engineering and manufacturing experience.”
In the next few weeks, the companies will reconfigure assets and personnel to maximize design and engineering operations, build out its manufacturing space and ensure product quality and traceability. PBS’s ISO 13485-certified facility will be used primarily to make the company’s disposable vessels and bags. PBS Biotech also manufactures bioreactors that feature full scalability from lab to production, low shear and plug and play configurations.
“We are thrilled to become part of the PBS team and to contribute to making single-use bioreactor products,” said Oscar Garza, CEO of Integrity. “PBS Biotech is a company providing biopharma with bioreactors that can improve the development of drugs and vaccines and reduce costs. We are pleased to be part of the family.”
