Foot care plays an essential role in overall health, especially for diabetics. As part of treatment, podiatrists often debride nails to remove damaged or diseased material. The problem is that traditional tools present a number of health risks to both patient and clinician, including tissue damage, a particular risk for diabetics. When the engineering team from Kerathin set out to design a new debrider, they didn’t just enhance an existing design but instead took an entirely different approach to develop a safer, more effective solution. Courtesy of small, coreless DC motors from MICROMO, Kerathin’s podiaPro debrider promises to revolutionize nail care, delivering reliable performance in a compact, simple, portable system (see figure 1).
