Custom manufactured metal component and services company ATW Companies Inc.’s subsidiary Judson A. Smith has expanded its footprint in the U.S. endoscopic laparoscopic device market. The subsidiary provides custom and precision metal tube components and assemblies for endosurgical applications.

Judson, located in Boyertown, Pa., produces metal tube components and assemblies widely used in instruments designed for minimally invasive surgical procedures. The company is ISO 13485 certified.

By expanding its supply of tubing via a successful new product launch last year with a major medical device company, Judson grew from serving approximately 39 percent of the endoscopy market to serving about 56 percent market share, according to the company. Among the demographics driving growth in the endoscopy market is the increased obesity in the United States. The market is expected to reach about $7.5 billion by 2018. It is currently estimated at $4.1 billion.
