Siemens to Acquire PenrithPosted on August 22, 2012 @ 09:25 amSiemens Healthcare is acquiring Penrith Corporation of Plymouth Meeting, Pa., a manufacturer of integrated ultrasound imaging systems, to expand its offering of diagnostic capabilities. The deal is expected to close next month.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. “We are very pleased to join Siemens Healthcare,” said Michael G. Cannon, president of Penrith Corporation, who will become Siemens Ultrasound’s vice president and general manager of point-of-care solutions when the acquisition is finalized. “Our portfolio and technology competence in the miniaturization of ultrasound devices will strengthen Siemens’ ability to develop pioneering technologies and future breakthrough innovations that advance and expand ultrasound’s role in medicine—specifically, innovations that are tailored to the needs and means of diverse markets.” With U.S. headquarters in Malvern Pa., Siemens Healthcare supplies medical imaging, laboratory diagnostics, medical information technology and hearing aids to the healthcare sector. |
