Warren Wang has left Johnson and Johnson (JNJ) to join Natick, Mass.-based Boston Scientific Inc. as its new vice president and managing director of China operations. He will lead the company’s China team, executing its development strategy in that country’s market. He will be based in Shanghai, reporting to Supratim Bose, executive vice president and president of Boston Scientific Asia-Pacific.

In a statement, Bose praised Wang’s “passion for workforce development, deep knowledge of the China market, strategic thinking capabilities, and business acumen.”

Wang most recently served as general manager of the Orthopedics group at JNJ Medical China. He was with the company for more than 10 years, also spending some time in leadership positions in the Ethicon Endo-Surgery Inc. and DePuy Companies subsidiaries. At JNJ, he spearheaded the launch of the healthcare conglomerate's new infection prevention business known as the Advanced Sterilization Products franchise, growing it to become a significant player in low temperature sterilization in China. This success led Wang to conquer JNJ’s orthopedics and neurosciences franchise, ultimately achieving significant financial growth by building a culture of teamwork, creating an innovative direct-to-consumer marketing campaign, and forming strategic partnerships with government authorities and medical associations, JNJ said in a news release. He was promoted to vice president in January 2006 and became a board member of JNJ Medical China. Prior to JNJ, Wang worked for the China Foreign Trade Development Co. and BP Amoco.

Wang earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of International Business and Economics, Beijing, China, and a master’s degree in business administration in marketing and finance from
the University of Chicago in Illinois.
