Deals, design and diversity were the main drivers of MPO website traffic this past week. Visitors accessed the site for news of Glooko's bid for healthcare AI firm xbird, Withings' pairing with health and fitness ap 8fit, and Philips' decade-long partnership with a 500-bed German hospital.
The xbird acquisition will enable Glookos to expand its analytics capabilities, as it plans to integrate xbird's software into its platform. Berlin, Germany-based xbird uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to interpret patients' medical and behavioral data, and offers customized recommendations and developmental nudges. Similarly, Withings' purchase of 8fit will enable the firm to expand its services to nutrition and workout plans. Berlin-based 8fit's app offers users nutritional advice, meal plans, and access to thousands of guided, customized workouts such as HIIT, boxing, Pilates, yoga, and meditation.
Philips, meanwhile, signed an 18 million euros deal with University Hospital Brandenburg an der Havel to provide ultrasound, MRI, mobile X-ray, image-guided therapy suites, and patient monitoring solutions to the hospital for the next 10 years. The union, according to Philips, is designed to approach healthcare design and organization from a holistic standpoint.
Other website items of interest this week included an online exclusive look at micromolding design for manufacturability and the 10 finalists in the MedTech Color 2022 Pitch Competition. The contest focuses on cutting-edge startups led by Black and Brown founders.
