All the Right Tools
The MPO Symposium returns to Massachusetts with a strong agendadesigned to address today’s evolving medtech outsourcing model.
New England in the fall. It is a perfect time of year to visit Massachusetts—apple picking, leaves turning from green to vibrant reds and oranges, cool and crisp air, andmedical device manufacturing. OK, so you won’t usually see the last item in that list on many travel brochures, but for five years, autumn also means it’s time for the newest installment of the MPO Symposium located at the Conference Center at Waltham Woods in Waltham, Mass. Each year, as dependably as leaves change colors, the MPO Symposium provides a valuable venue to learn, network with industry peers and do business.
This year’s agenda comes through yet again.
The day-and-a-half program, held Oct. 19-20, is packed with “musts” for today’s ever-changing global medical device manufacturing environment. The outsourcing of medical technology manufacturing is a highly specialized process with its own set of obstacles and opportunities, and the relationships among device companies and their myriad suppliers continually are evolving along with marketplace demands. The topics and speakers were carefully chosen to tackle subjects that will arm conference attendees with the critical intelligence and tools they need to do business better.
For example, Wednesday morning’s keynote address “Supply Management in Medical Devices Under Economic Challenging Times,” along with other presentations such as “Building the Bridge Between OEM Design and Outsourced Manufacturing,” “Qualification Across the Supply Chain: Working With Your Supplier and Your Supplier Suppliers,” and “Future of Sourcing: Trends & Technologies in Logistics, Supply Chain and Manufacturing” get to the heart of the issues affecting the medical device manufacturing supply chain today.
The in-depth presentations were designed specifically to meet the needs of industry professionals fulfilling various roles, including supply chain management; strategic sourcing; supplyoperations; IT/IS security; quality assurance; purchasing and procurement; legal and regulatory affairs; material management; quality control; product development; and global supply chain. The price of admission covers all conference sessions, lunch (which includes roundtable discussions moderated by industry leaders), multiple networking breaks with refreshments (sponsored by Tegra Medical), a cocktail reception (sponsored by Covidien), and a unique way mix and mingle—a bowling outing on Wednesday evening.
Sponsors for this year’s event include: (Platinum) Covidien; (Gold) Tegra Medical; (Silver) Cadence, IE Singapore, Forefront Medical Technology, Helix Medical, KMC Systems, MTDMicromolding, Nutek Corp., Polymer Solutions, ProvenProcess Medical Devices, SPRING Singapore, Univac, Vaupell, andVention Medical. The program also is supported by Bonifacio
