maxon Motor’s EPOS2 36/2 motherboard offers two options: a standalone multi-axis motor controller or one that can be integrated into the final product as a sub-board. According to Maxon, these options make product development easier and faster.
A unique snap-apart construction (made up of 11 nodes connected via CAN-Open, though USB and RS232 modules also are available) allows for quick multi-axis customization on a “single” board. Each node pairs with an individual EPOS2 36/2 drive/controller and provides connection points. Two digital inputs and one output are mapped on the board. An additional I/O expansion is optional.
Other functionalities include EPOS-supported motion controlled acceleration and speed, interpolated position mode, point-to-point motor position control, torque control, electronic gearing, motor holding brake control, position compare and position mark, and dual loop speed and position control.
