A variety of self lubricating, sintered bronze and power metal alloy plain bearings are available from LM76. The East Longmeadow, Mass.-based company claims its bearings contain a low coefficient of friction, making them durable after “many thousands of hours of use,” according to a news release. Besides their low coefficient of friction, the bearings feature high load capacities (up to 1,422 pounds per square inch), high speeds (up to 30,000 rpm), high temperatures (more than 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit) and low noise. They are available in a variety of sizes, from 0.250 inches to 2.5 inches in diameter by 2 inches long to 2 millimeters through 100 millimeters in diameter by 120 millimeters long. The bearings also come in various materials including sintered bronze, iron sintered bronze, Paralite (a non-migrating lubricant) and Triboloy (chromium, nickel, cobalt alloy for temperatures hotter than 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit). The company claims the Triboloy sintered bearings are resistant to corrosion, erosion, abrasions, and galling; at high temperatures, these bearings also are resistant to oxidation.
