The organizers of Medica, the annual medical technology trade fair held in Düsseldorf, Germany, are adding a new feature to this year's upcoming installment.
The Medica Econ Forum will be organized by the German TK health insurance (Techniker Krankenkasse) and specifically geared toward decision-makers’ needs in the health sector.
“Cost-benefit assessments and the introduction of innovations are increasingly gaining importance. By sharpening the profile of their service portfolio and increasingly concluding selective contracts, health insurance companies have developed from 'payers into players' in the health sector. Medica addresses this trend with a appropriate forum,” said Joachim Schäfer, managing director of Messe Düsseldorf, the event's organizing group.
Medica will be held from Nov. 14-17.
Medica also will include the a Wound Care Forum (modern wound care concepts), which was successfully introduced in 2011 and the Medica Tech Forum, launched in 2010. The Medical Tech Forum focuses on different themes every year and highlights current medical technology trends in lectures, a number of them held in English. In close cooperation with the professional associations ZVEI and Spectaris, the focus this year will be on topics such as sourcing in clinics in the Middle East in comparison to European and North American hospitals, clinical innovation and life cycle management as well as a seminar on hygiene management.
Other forums to note are the Medica Health IT forum, Medica Vision (innovation forum for research institutes and universities) and the Medica Physio Forum.
This year's meeting, according to show planners, will target new visitor groups this year by including several annual meetings of medical associations, including the German Society for Computer and Robot-Assisted Surgery, the German Society for Management and Market Orientation in Medicine, the Foundation of Personalized Medicine as well as the German Association for Traditional Chinese Medicine.
The exhibits by the over 4,500 exhibitors will be arranged by categories within 16 halls: electromedical equipment/medical technology, laboratory technology/diagnostics, physiotherapy/orthopedic technology, medical products (commodities and consumables), information and communication technology, medical furniture as well as special room furnishing and building technology for clinics and hospitals.
Held along with Medica is Compamed, an international trade show medical technology solutions providers (contract manufacturers and outsource providers). It will be held Nov. 14-16. More than 600 exhibitors from 40 countries are expected and will focus on from new materials, mechanical and electronic components, packaging, and quality testing to complete contract manufacturing.
