NuSil Technology LLC, a formulator and manufacturer of silicone compounds for the healthcare industry, has added three new products to its VersaSil3 line, which is now a series of six elastomers designed for wide range of applications.
VersaSil3 40, 60 and 80 present new ranges in durometer, offering versatility for extrusion, transfer/compression molding and calendaring, according to the company. The three-part system of VersaSil3 allows flexibility to adjust the cure rate and the table life to various fabricating requirements, officials said.
“This high-consistency elastomer product line was developed for volume-users who demand maximum flexibility,” said Brian Reilly, product director for Healthcare Materials. “With these recent durometers added to the series, customers now have more options to match their unique needs.”
Featuring high-tear strength; wide processing parameters; and translucent, non-tacky surfaces, the new additions are available in un-vulcanized base stock that can be cured through either a peroxide catalyst or platinum-cure master batch. The base stock, available in 25- or 1,000-pound kits, produces tough, durable elastomers with nominal Type A durometers of 40, 60 and 80.
A Master Access File and biological testing have been filed with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The VersaSil3 series are restricted products and cannot in human implantation for a period of greater than 29 days.
