Job Description / Information Position Description Support development and implementation of strategic sourcing activities in assigned commodity. Obtains the best quality, service, and value for products and services through effective bidding, negotiation, and supplier management. The Associate Commodity Manager will support the development and implementation of specific strategies and projects related to cost reduction initiatives, new product development, supply base and sourcing optimization and rationalization, quality improvement, risk assessment, and contract negotiation. Responsibilities Support development and implementation of strategies and goals for assigned commodities in support of overall divisional business objectives. Support development and implementation of processes to build a best in class strategic sourcing organization. Develop and lead cross functional teams and lead the process to create strategic commodity plans, consolidation strategy, and spend/supply assessments taking into account total product life cycle needs. Participates in sourcing analysis and selection process and performs cost analyses and make versus buy analyses as required. Participates in development of contract strategy. Negotiates, establishes, monitors and enforces supplier contracts and agreements. Develop strong partnership relationships with key suppliers as well as other disciplines within the businesses. Identify supply base risk and develop/implement mitigation plans. Obtain and communicate market condition information and technology trends related to commodities and suppliers. Utilize market trends to identify and implement appropriate cost controls and business strategy changes. Perform cost analyses and make versus buy analyses as required. Responsible for assuring cost standards are established for annual operating budgets. Collaborate across functions, divisions, and campuses to develop scorecards and business reviews for key suppliers. Organize and lead scorecard review meetings and business reviews. Minimum Qualifications Basic Qualification Bachelor's Degree in Supply Management, Business, Finance, Engineering or related field. 5+ years in Supply Management with focus on strategic sourcing and supplier development. Ability to lead supplier contract strategy, negotiations, contractual terms, and contract administration. Some knowledge of supplier processes and supply chain risk factors including ability to assess and mitigate risk in the supply base. Ability to negotiate effectively to obtain best prices and terms on products, materials, and services. Ability to effectively communicate and present information to suppliers, team members, team leaders, and top management. Ability to build relationships and influence across multiple functions and levels both internally and externally. Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies & cost reduction methodologies. Experience with supplier metrics & measurement methodologies and supporting systems. Aptitude for leadership, negotiations, influencing, communication & presentation, project management, troubleshooting & problem solving, analysis, strategic thinking, and collaborative team building. Sound judgment with the ability to make and communicate timely and sound decisions
