TekniPlex Healthcare expanded its capabilities portfolio with its new multilayer blown film manufacturing in a cleanroom environment. The new line is located at its Puurs, Belgium facility.
This new multilayer line joins multiple existing monolayer lines used for producing cleanroom bags inside IOS Class 7 cleanrooms at the Puurs facility.
Customers have expressed a need for higher barrier, multilayer film/ bag capabilities. The addition comes as healthcare market players shift from food-grade resin-based bags to pharma-grade resins produced in GMP cleanroom conditions.
TekniPlex Healthcare cleanroom-manufactured bags are double, or triple packed for use in customer cleanrooms. They can be individually labeled for supply chain traceability. The bags are also available in custom resins or resin blends and are certified sterilized products with Gamma irradiation.
The Company has a longstanding history of producing low-density polyethylene (LDPE) bags that meet stringent cleanliness requirements. Film extrusion and bag sealing is conducted in cleanroom environments at the Puurs facility.
“There is a growing demand for films extruded and bags sealed in cleanroom environments across various healthcare categories,” said TekniPlex Healthcare VP of sales and marketing, Bryan Wesselmann. “The introduction of cleanroom production for multilayer blown films and bags at our Puurs, Belgium facility demonstrates our dedication to acquiring more extensive, market-responsive capabilities. This expansion aligns with our goal of increasing capacities and market share for our existing solutions portfolio.”
The new cleanroom-housed multilayer blown film line is expected to begin operation in Q2 of 2024 followed by a full-scale commercial production.
