Freudenberg Medical has opened its newly expanded Galway, Ireland facility, creating 100 new jobs in the area.
The new facility increases the company’s manufacturing footprint in Galway by 50%. Freudenberg Medical said staffing levels will be increased by 25%, bringing total staff members in Galway to 400 over the next 18 months. The new roles include positions in engineering, R&D, manufacturing operations, quality, and support services.
The company said the expansion is a move to meet rising global demand for its critical metal components used in minimally invasive surgery catheters.
“Ireland is of strategic significance within our global network,” Freudenberg Medical’s CEO Dr. Mark Ostwald told the press. “The country is renowned worldwide as a leader in the life sciences sector and stands as an epitome of excellence and innovation for medical devices. With the investment in our newly expanded facility and plans to further increase our team, we look forward to building on our 25-year history as we strengthen our presence in Ireland.”

The company also recently amplified its production capacity by introducing an automated coating process for its hypotubes.
