Haemonetics has earned U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance for advancements to its NexSys PCS plasma collection system, which include a new plasma collection bowl with a new, performance-optimizing design, and new Express Plus tech to reduce procedure time.
Thanks to the latest advancements, Haemonetics anticipates an average 33- to 38-minute procedure time using the standard FDA nomogram, helping to achieve more plasma center efficiency and lower costs to collect.
NexSys PCS is bi-directionally connected with NexLynk DMS donor management software reduces donor door-to-door time by 16 minutes on average, with much of the portion of this improvement happening pre- and post-procedure. Further, Persona technology delivers an average 9 to 12% additional plasma yield by personalizing each collection to individual donor characteristics.
Haemonetics aims to initially release NexSys PCS with the new bowl and Express Plus tech over the coming months.
"Haemonetics sets the standard in global plasma collection solutions that meet collectors' most critical needs. With our redesigned bowl and new Express Plus Technology for faster procedure times and enhanced plasma center efficiency, we continue to advance our innovation to lead the industry in reducing cost per liter for collectors and ensuring the best experience for their donors," Roy Galvin, president, Global Plasma and Blood Center at Haemonetics, told the press.
