Baxter has gained U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for its Novum IQ syringe infusion pump (SYR) with Dose IQ safety software for infusion therapy with the ability to integrate with hospital electronic medical records (EMR) via the IQ Enterprise Connectivity Suite.
Novum IQ SYR features advanced connectivity, configurable anesthesia, and a portfolio of sets designed for optimum accuracy. Its user interface has colored visual banners to identify enteral delivery, a backlit keypad, and guided syringe loading.
“We are thrilled to bring a new syringe infusion pump to the market that represents the next generation of Baxter’s intelligent infusion ecosystem,” Heather Knight, president, Medication Delivery, Acute Therapies, Clinical Nutrition, Latin America and Canada, told the press. “Together, the Novum IQ syringe infusion pump, Dose IQ Safety Software and IQ Enterprise Connectivity Suite advance the interoperability and data insights needed to help prevent harm and personalize therapy for patients, including neonates and other fragile patients.”
The infusion therapy solution’s web-based customizable drug library and dose error reduction helps ensure pumps are current with the latest drug and dose information. Titration error prevention adds additional safety for infusions.
The Enterprise IQ Connectivity Suite allows over-the air operating system upgrades for all Novum IQ SYR devices on a hospital network. Infusion data auto-programming and auto-documentation, real-time infusion data and streamlined reports, and clear visualizations of data are also enabled.
