MedTech Color, a non-profit organization with a mission to advance the representation of persons of color in the medtech industry, has announced the winner of the MedTech Color 2022 Pitch Competition.
On Tuesday, March 8, the finalists took the stage for a virtual competition to showcase their innovations and tell their stories.
During the 90-minute competition, the finalists presented their companies and products and answered questions from seasoned industry judges.
The 2nd place prize of $25,000 went to Troy Barring of TAB Diagnostic, who presented a portable, non-invasive diagnostic salivary device for diabetics improving access to care, quality, and cost.
The 3rd place prize of $15,000 went to Nana Mireku MD, of AllergenIQ, who presented a virtual allergy solution that addresses allergic conditions with a holistic perspective in order to democratize access and improve healthcare outcomes.
The Audience Choice winner of $2,500 was Wendy Slone of bTECH.

The Winners
The 1st place prize of $50,000 went to Lauren Elliot of Candlelit Therapy, who presented the company’s point-of-care digital therapeutic platform, which provides culturally competent support to new and expectant BIPOC parents at risk of postpartum depression or anxiety.
