Big money brought big traffic to MPO's website this past week.
Visitors accessed the site to gain knowledge of Masimo's $1 billion bid for audio device maker Sound United, Alcon's robust 2021 sales, and Boston Scientific's finalization of its $1.7 billion Baylis Medical deal.
Taking top honors was the Masimo-Sound United acquisition, an agreement that gives Masimo brand ownership of Bowers & Wilkins, Denon, Polk Audio, Marantz, Definitive Technology, Classé, and Boston Acoustics as well as online retail and custom installation channels, a cloud-connected home ecosystem, and extensive R&D capabilities. "We see significant opportunities to cross-leverage technologies, bringing Masimo's clinically superior solutions into the home and on-the-go as well as bringing Sound United's premium technologies into the hospital to advance our hospital automation connectivity and cloud-based technologies," Masimo CEO Joe Kiani said in a news release. "The technology and expertise within Sound United will serve us well as we aim to augment our Masimo SafetyNet strategy."
Alcon's surging sales last year also drove website traffic over the last seven days. The company reported a 22 percent increase in 2021 revenue, with surgical product sales accounting for more than half of the $8.2 billion total. Surgical product proceeds ballooned 27 percent compared to 2020.
Boston Scientific's closing of the Baylis Medical deal, first annoounced in October, also attracted viewers to MPO's website. Baylis offers transseptal access technologies as well as guidewires, sheaths, and dilators used in catheter-based left-heart surgeries.
Other top stories this week included FDA's approval of CloudCath's Home Peritoneal Dialysis monitor, and the launch of BD's new needle guard (BD UltraSafe Plus).
