Masimo today unveiled an expansion that adds secure video conferencing to its SafetyNet remote patient management and connectivity platform. Thanks to the telehealth and telemonitoring solution, clinicians and hospitals can schedule and host multi-way audio- and video-based virtual appointments with patients at home while viewing continuous and spot-check vital signs.
The company integrated TODA audio and video transcoding tech from LMLabs. The solution dynamically adjusts bit rates based on available bandwidth to transcode live, secure audio and video. Clinicians can further collaborate with patients using the tool by sharing their screen, launching a digital whiteboard, talk via in-app messaging, or invite additional clinicians.
Virtual visits are held through the same Masimo smartphone app that collects oxygen saturation, pulse rate, respiration rate, temperature, and other data gathered from tetherless Masimo Radius PPG and Radius To sensors.
“Masimo SafetyNet has been helping clinicians save and improve patients’ lives at home and in the hospital, around the world, since the start of the pandemic,” Masimo founder and CEO Joe Kiani told the press. “With the addition of advanced telehealth capabilities, our already powerful remote monitoring solution becomes an even more comprehensive platform.”
The Masimo SafetyNet secure, scalable, cloud-based patient management tool touts clinical-grade spot-checking and continuous measurements, customizable digital care plans, remote surveillance, and two-way integration with hospital electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
