Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed)12.07.17
AdvaMedDx, a division of the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed) which promotes innovation in diagnostic test technology, today announced the appointment of Susan Van Meter, M.A. as executive director.
In this role, Van Meter will be leading the industry’s efforts to advocate for health care policies that support the power of diagnostic testing to promote wellness, improve patient outcomes, and advance public health in the United States and abroad.
“We are pleased Ms. Van Meter will be joining AdvaMedDx to lead the association to new heights, as she brings to bear an exceptional background in health care policy and advocacy,” said Eric Compton, chairman of the AdvaMedDx Board of Directors and Hologic chief operating officer. “It’s an exciting and critical time for diagnostics as they are at the forefront of medical innovation, providing vital insights to guide health care decision-making.”
Prior to joining AdvaMedDx, Van Meter led the Washington, D.C. office of the Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS), where she oversaw federal government relations as well as state and federal health information technology advocacy. Before joining HANYS in 2000, she served in the Office of Legislation of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, where she worked primarily on inpatient hospital issues as a liaison with Capitol Hill. Before that, she served as a staff advisor to the Bipartisan Commission on the Future of Medicare.
“I am honored to be leading such a robust and innovative organization as AdvaMedDx,” Van Meter said. “Building on previous successes, I look forward to working with our membership to promote the value of diagnostics as well as seek policy and regulatory changes that promote continued innovation for better health and better care.”
Van Meter succeeds Andrew Fish who has served as executive director since the organization’s founding in 2010 and will continue in his additional role as AdvaMed’s chief strategy officer. Compton added, “Under Andy’s leadership, AdvaMedDx has seen tremendous growth and his guidance and direction were critical not only in working towards major policy reforms, but also in building a strong foundation for future success.”
