Advanced Medical Technology Association02.09.17
The annual conference of the Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed)—the premiere gathering of medtech officials in North America—has been renamed The MedTech Conference, the association announced.
“Our new name reinforces our annual conference’s role as the global summit for medical technology industry leaders,” said Scott Whitaker, president and CEO of AdvaMed. “The MedTech Conference will still be powered by AdvaMed, but we are open to the entire medtech community beyond our membership, and we will continue to draw the trailblazers in our industry from around the world.”
This year’s MedTech Conference will be held Sept. 25-27 at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center. It will bring together more than 1,000 companies to collaborate in business development, capital formation, innovative technology showcasing, world-class educational opportunities and networking. Highlights include CEOs Unplugged sessions, a MedTech Innovator Showcase featuring early-stage company presentations, more than 35 educational panel sessions, networking receptions, online partnering via MedTech Connect, a heavily-trafficked exhibit hall, and more.

“By holding this year’s conference in the heart of Silicon Valley, we have an opportunity to bring together technology leaders, FDA officials, emerging growth companies and investors to discuss the challenges facing the medical industry and identify new ways to solve them. I look forward to seeing everyone in San Jose,” said Dow R. Wilson, 2017 chairman, The MedTech Conference, and president and CEO of Varian Medical Systems.
Industry stakeholders are encouraged to apply to serve on The MedTech Conference Program committee. Individuals selected will work with AdvaMed board members and staff to identify timely and critical issues, cultivate and deliver compelling educational content, and identify dynamic and expert speakers. Applications are due on Feb. 24, and can be completed here.
Applications for MedTech Innovator are also now open, with several opportunities for early-stage companies to participate in the conference through the MedTech Innovator Showcase, AdvaMed Accel Leadership Seminar, and other networking opportunities. Four finalists will present on the plenary stage at The MedTech Conference, with the winner up for hundreds of thousands of dollars. For more information, visit www.medtechinnovator.org/apply.
