St. Paul, Minn.-based 3M Company announced today that Dr. Michael G. Vale has been appointed to the position of executive vice president, Health Care Business Group, and Dr. Joaquin Delgado to the position of executive vice president, Consumer Business Group. Both leadership changes are effective immediately.
These appointments are a natural outcome of the significant global growth opportunities in both business groups.

Vale earned a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from Yale University and a Ph.D in chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He joined 3M in 1992. Since that time, he has served in technical functions as well as Lean Six Sigma roles, prior to being named managing director of 3M Spain (2005) and 3M Brazil (2009). He served as executive vice president, Consumer Business Group (2011), until today’s appointment.
Delgado earned a bachelor of science degree in chemical sciences engineering and a master of science degree in polymer science and engineering from the University of the Basque Country, San Sebastian, Spain, and a Ph.D., in polymer science from Lehigh University. He joined 3M in 1987. Since that time, he has served in numerous technical capacities before being named managing director, 3M Korea (2003), followed by leadership roles as the executive vice president of the Electronics and Energy Business Group (2009) and most recently, as the executive vice president, Health Care Business Group (2012).
