The Arthur G. Russell Company Inc. (AGR), a leading provider of automatic assembly solutions, is again sponsoring Team 3461, Operation P.E.A.C.C.E. Robotics. AGR is providing funds, materials and mentors who will help design and build a robot for the 2016 FIRST Robotics Competition—FIRST Stronghold.
Operation P.E.A.C.C.E. Robotics includes high school students from Bristol and the surrounding communities. The team received a kit comprised of various automation components along with limited instructions. Working with AGR mentors, students have six weeks to design, build, program and test their robot to meet this year’s engineering challenge.
FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a not-for-profit organization, founded by inventor Dean Kamen in 1989. FIRST strives to capture the enthusiasm of students with the excitement of a sports competition, and applies them to science and technology. The program emphasizes teamwork, self-confidence, professionalism and leadership.
“AGR’s broad application of leading edge automation technology makes this a great opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience” said Mark Burzynski, President of Arthur G. Russell. “It’s our hope that engaging students with real world experience, they will be encouraged to pursue careers in engineering and technology.”
“We are excited to support Operation P.E.A.C.C.E. Robotics as they learn important skills to compete not only in the FIRST Robotics Competition, but in the future as well” says Eric Corriveau, Mechanical Engineer and AGR’s team liaison.
