Acelity L.P. Inc. has added to its executive team.
The company recently appointed Gaurav S. Agarwal as group president, Businesses and Innovation, a newly-created role that reports directly to President/CEO Joe Woody. Agarwal is charged with leading the strategic direction for all Acelity businesses, including Advanced Wound Therapeutics and Regenerative Medicine.
Agarwal will assume commercial responsibility for Acelity’s product portfolio of healing solutions and regenerative and reconstructive tissue matrices. He will drive Acelity’s product portfolio expansion to offer new solutions for the future of negative pressure therapies and adjacent technologies. Agarwal also will oversee Acelity’s innovation pipeline, product portfolio strategy and execution, in addition to North American commercial operations. He will be responsible for creating and managing multiple development platforms across the business to bring highly differentiated products, such as the CelluTome Epidermal Harvesting System, to market.
Agarwal brings to Acelity nearly two decades of global business management in the healthcare industry. Most recently, he served as president, Orthopedic Reconstruction for the Advanced Surgical Devices Division at Smith & Nephew plc, where he led global strategic marketing and product development for joint reconstruction, as well as U.S. commercial operations. He joined Smith & Nephew as the chief operating officer of the Orthopedic global business unit, where he led initiatives to expedite the product development process and rationalize the product portfolio.
Having spent almost 15 years at GE Corporation in the company’s healthcare division, Agarwal has extensive experience establishing distribution channels on a global scale. During his time at GE, he was responsible for driving growth and commercial profitability for the company’s medical device business across Asia, including Japan and China. In addition to his commercial leadership experience, Gaurav served as chief Technology, Quality, Regulatory and Strategy officer, responsible for all technology and innovation initiatives for the company's $5 billion device business.

Agarwal holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute inTroy, N.Y. He is a Six Sigma Quality Leader and is Six Sigma Black Belt certified.
