Faxitron Bioptics LLC has launched its new 24 micron (21 lp/mm) digital detector. The firm claims its new CMOS detector is the world’s highest resolution X-ray camera in its size range and provides resolution of up to three times of comparable specimen radiography and mammography systems.
The new camera initially is being offered in 6 centimeter by 15 centimeter and 12 centimeter by 15 centimeter fields of view, followed by up to 24 centimeter by 30 centimeter formats, Faxitron sad in a news release. The new detector is the cornerstone of the “Vision+” and “Focus+” range of products from FaxitronPrototype systems being placed in the market. Faxitron initially is releasing the product in its own Vision+ and Focus+ product lines while also forming a new OEM camera business to service a variety of markets including mammography, life sciences and NDT.
“This product launch is the culmination of many years of passionate and dedicated work by the Faxitron team,” said Faxitron chief operating officer and chief financial officer Donogh O’Driscoll. “We set very lofty goals for this R&D project and are thrilled to be able to share those benefits with our customers in the coming quarters. The benefit of our technology will be felt not only through our own life saving devices but also as we make our technology widely available to others who either share a similar passion for relentlessly fighting breast cancer or who undertake groundbreaking clinical research”.
