Compounding Solutions plans to expand its compounding capabilities with the addition of two new 27-millimeter (mm) co-rotating twin-screw extruders. These two new compounding lines will bring the company’s total to 10, with sizes ranging from 27 to 50 mm.
The two new extruders will be Leistritz ZSE 27 MAXX models that, according to the company, include the newest features that allow for increased volume and efficiency, “while maintaining the high quality standards of the company.”
The addition of these extruders will allow for increased capacity and decreased research and development times, as well as, aid in new product and process development, company leadership said.
“Adding these extrusion lines speaks to our strong commitment to improve our technology and expand our capabilities to benefit our customers,” said Scott Neal, owner and general manager of Lewiston, Maine-based Compounding Solutions.
The first of these additions is expected to arrive in May, while the second is expected in September.
Founded in 1999, Compounding Solutions produces specialty compounds for the medical device industry. The company operates a 60,000-square-foot facility with eight compounding lines ranging, warehouse and office space, as well as a 7,000-square-foot, controlled-environment white room for medical compounding.
