Resonetics, a supplier of polymer laser micromachining services and systems for the life-sciences industry, has hired a new executive. Karen Scammell joins the company as vice president of sales and customer service, responsible for sales, technical support and customer service in the United States.
Scammell most recently served as vice president of sales at A. Schulman Custom Compounding, a $2 billion manufacturer of custom engineered thermoplastic resins, performance-enhancing concentrates and specialty filled compounds. Prior to that, she worked as sales director for 12 years at Axsun Technologies, where she developed channel monitors for telecommunications and also developed new markets for near infra-red spectroscopy as well as for optical coherence tomography for medical imaging. The company was sold to Volcano Corporation in 2008.
Earlier in her career, Scammell held various sales and marketing roles at Active Control Experts Inc. (purchased by Cymer Inc. in 2000), Lasertron and DSM Engineering Plastics. She graduated from the University of Lowell (Mass.) with a B.S. in plastics engineering, and received an M.B.A. from Northeastern University in Boston, Mass.
