Laserage Technology Corp., a contract manufacturer for precision laser processing, has acquired Venta Medical, an ISO 13485-certified, turnkey medical contract manufacturer located in Silicon Valley, Calif. Waukegan, Ill.-based Laserage had acquired a majority interest in Venta a year ago.
According to officials from both firms, the acquisition is a strategic move to strengthen the organizations' contract manufacturing capabilities and for further geographic penetration in the medical device market.
Venta Medical provides single-source manufacturing solutions, offering early stage through volume productions and clean-room assembly.
“We are pleased with the growth we have seen over the past year, and feel we are exceptionally positioned in the marketplace. The acquisition leverages the combined resources of Laserage and Venta, expanding our global presence and strengthening our continued emphasis to be a leading precision laser and contract manufacturing service provider," said Steve Capp, president and CEO of Laserage. “The opportunity for Laserage to enhance its existing service offerings and establish a California presence has been key in servicing the critical needs of emerging companies in the medical technology arena.”
Karl Im, co-founder and CEO of Venta seems to be equally pleased with the arrangement.
“This acquisition continues to strengthen Venta’s position and ability to provide more comprehensive services to our many existing customers, locally and around the globe.” said Im. “With Laserage’s precision laser processing, and the turnkey contract manufacturing services that Venta offers, we envision a successful future.”
Laserage is privately held and was founded in 1979. Its product capabilities include medical implants and components, medical instruments, electronic substrates, and aerospace flight-critical assemblies and secondary operations. The company also produces laser machine plastics, composite materials, ceramics and cable assemblies.
