Warsaw, Ind.-based Symmetry Medical Inc. has appointed Ajey Atre to the position of president of its subsidiary, Symmetry Surgical Inc. Effective Aug. 12, Atre will be responsible for leading the global Symmetry Surgical business and will be based at the Symmetry Surgical headquarters in Nashville, Tenn. He will report to Thomas J. Sullivan, president and CEO of Symmetry Medical.
“Ajey brings nearly twenty years of experience in medical devices to Symmetry Surgical, including relevant experience as a senior leader for a global business,” said Sullivan. “He has a wealth of general management skills that will benefit Symmetry Surgical, including the ability to drive cross functional teams and focus on customer satisfaction. We believe he is the right leader for the business at this critical stage in the company’s development. On behalf of the management team I would like to welcome Ajey to the Symmetry team.”
For the past five years Atre was general manager of Zimmer’s trabecular metal technologies business, with responsibility for strategic planning, new product development, market development, global revenue expansion, surgeon education, quality and regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and employee engagement. Previously, he served as vice president of global supply chain and operations at DJO Global’s Aircast division. At DJO, his experience included sales, engineering and operations positions. Atre holds an MS in biomechanical engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and a BS in mechanical engineering from the College of Engineering in Pune, India. He earned his MBA from Harvard Business School.
