Firstronic LLC and Maxway Technology Co. Ltd. have formed joined to create Maxtronic in Shenzhen, China. Initially, the joint venture (JV) and its production operations will be housed in Maxway Technology’s Shenzhen manufacturing operation.
“The new JV gives Firstronic a scalable manufacturing footprint in China and provides Maxway Technology with a partner who can provide similar geographic reach for projects that must be built in the United States or Europe,” said John Sammut, CEO of Firstronic. “We chose to partner with Maxway because our company strengths complement each other well and we are similar in size and market focus. Both of our companies are heavily focused on the automotive market and expansion via JV provides a cost effective way to address the need to have a one-stop shop approach to that market.”
Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Firstronic provides electronics manufacturing services and supply chain solutions, while Maxway is based in Shenzhen and provides turnkey manufacturing services. Maxway’s U.S. offices are in Old Bridge, N.J.
According to the companies, Maxtronic will incorporate a Lean manufacturing approach. Firstronic has more depth and greater strength in using distribution partners, while Maxway’s strength lies in sourcing tooling, test fixtures and equipment, plastic injection mold tools and components, printed circuit boards, and other custom parts.
