Waukegan, Ill.-based Laserage Technology Corporation, a contract manufacturer providing laser processing, has acquired a majority interest in Venta Medical Inc., a Union City, Calif.-based contract manufacturer.
The terms of the sale were not disclosed.
According to Laserage and Venta executives, this acquisition is an opportunity for both companies to expand their reach in the contract manufacturing marketplace, specifically via geographic reach.
“This is an opportunity for Laserage to enhance our existing service offerings, while establishing a California presence to serve the critical needs of emerging companies in the medical technology arena,” said Steve Capp, Laserage president and CEO. “This also increases Laserage’s ability to provide more comprehensive, locally based services, including cleanroom assembly, to our many existing California customers.”
“Laserage’s participation allows Venta to expand its supply chain service offerings, which already includes plastics, through our existing strategic alliance with Delta Pacific,” said Karl Im, co-founder and CEO of Venta Medical. “This also reinforces the continued emphasis of Venta to be the most comprehensive manufacturing service provider in the market, and leverages the resources of Laserage to expand our national presence.”
Laserage is a outsourcing partner in research and development, pilot production, and volume production stages of medical device development and manufacturing. The company’s product capabilities include medical implants, components, and medical instruments.
Venta Medical is a turnkey, medical device contract manufacturer that provides manufacturing services to medical and life-science companies.
