DfR Solutions, a provider of quality, reliability, and durability (QRD) solutions for the electronics industry, is expanding its operations into Europe with a new office located in Espoo, Finland.
Mobile electronics and packaging design expert, Dr. Petri Savolainen, will lead DfR Solutions European office as senior member of technical staff.
With increasing demand for reliability services throughout the European market, including areas such as England, France, and Nordic countries, the new location will enable DfR Solutions to bring greater technological support and expertise to local designers, manufacturers and users of electronic components, products and systems, company officials noted.
The new office also will act as the firm's European headquarters and will ensure more direct customer support and allow for frequent contact with the growing number of European customers. In addition, the new location will provide geographic proximity for the root-cause investigations/failure analysis, reliability prediction, and technology qualification. Additionally, the office will provide proactive support to the growing number of users of Sherlock Automated Design Analysis software. According to the company, Sherlock is the first-of-its-kind Automated Design Analysis software for analyzing, grading, and certifying the expected reliability of products at the circuit card assembly level.
“We are very excited not only to establish our first physical location outside North America, but also to have a world leader in electronic packaging run the office,” said Craig Hillman, PhD, CEO and founder of DfR Solutions. “Dr. Savolainen’s expertise in technology qualification, integrated
circuit package design, finite element modeling, and reliability prediction will be extremely valuable to our customers in the region."
Previously at Nokia Corporation, Savolainen has extensive experience in touchscreen displays, chip-scale packaging, high-density printed board technology, and conductive adhesives.
"In the past, when I was working on advanced packaging and printed wiring boards, I thought how convenient it would be to use software to predict the reliability of new designs. Now this is reality as Sherlock offers just what I was dreaming about,” said Savolainen. “I am very happy to join the DfR team and use my experience on packages, substrates, and materials to serve the customers and help them to build reliable products and systems. Reliability is very close to my heart and I look forward to leap on new challenges."
Based in College Park, Md., DfR Solutions specializes in providing knowledge- and science-based solutions to maximize and accelerate the product integrity assurance activities of their clients in every marketplace for electronic technologies, including medical.
