ALPHARETTA, GA (January 17, 2019) – Spectrum Plastics Group now offers value-added overmolding capabilities through the Apollo Medical operation in Sandy, Utah. Four new injection molding machines have been added, ranging from 11 to 55 tons, which are suitable for reliable injection molding of highly precise products, including dilator and sheath sets. As customers require more complex devices, these machines allow Spectrum to meet their needs by operating in a horizontal or vertical position to produce injection molded products and insert molded assemblies.
“Overmolding hubs and luers directly over single and multi-lumen extrusions allows Spectrum to offer an integrated solution for catheter sub-assemblies”, comments Matt Bills, Sr. Vice President of Spectrum’s Vascular Technologies division. The Spectrum Plastics east coast catheter center in Wall, New Jersey, formerly Adam Spence, also has overmolding capabilities, with three injection molding machines in-house.
In an effort to provide technical expertise and improved process development and reliability to the overmolding operation, Spectrum has added a Sr. Injection Molding Engineer, Chad Rachal. Chad joins Spectrum with over 20 years of injection and blow molding experience in the medical device industry and will provide engineering leadership of the overmolding operation in Sandy.
Apollo Medical Extrusion technology represents the advanced extrusion technology brand of Spectrum Plastics Group. With multiple plants in North America and a strategic location for European customers in Tullamore, Ireland, Spectrum Plastics Group is a leader in the design, development, and manufacture of advanced extrusions, catheter components, and catheter assemblies.
Spectrum Plastics Group is exhibiting at MD&M West in Anaheim, CA Booth# 2407.
