ATEK Medical, a manufacturer of Class II and III disposable, implantable, and electro-mechanical medical devices, has expanded its capacity for sterile barrier contract-packaging by increasing from two to four the number of Form, Fill, and Seal (FFS) machines in production use. “Our new machines were specifically designed with superior performance enhancements to the HMI/PLC to allow for single point-of-control and monitoring for our operators”, according to Charles Kanazeh, ATEK Medical Packaging Engineering Manager. Validated process parameters are password protected to maintain security. In addition, cutting-edge process controls were added to comply with ISO 11607 (FDA guidance for packaging of terminally sterilized medical devices). The new packaging lines were developed to sustain ATEK’s contingency plan that allows for customer tooling to run in any one of ATEK’s four (4) FFS machines and to increase capacity dedicated for new business. “ATEK Medical offers a variety of sterile barrier packaging services and is focused on helping our clients achieve their goals, whether it is reducing packaging costs, developing user-friendly packaging, or expediting packaging development that our customer’s NPD group overlooked in their rush to market” said Dave Mabie, vice president Business Development for ATEK Medical.
